Sketches!

Yep. So in the first set there are some things I drew, eh... a little while ago. The top left is a self portrait for a bit of self promotion, and to the right is a sweet cherub-cthulhu hybrid that I made for a friend (it actually got made into a t-shirt).

The bottom left image is a card for a tarot deck I was considering making, it's supposed to be the 1 of wands, I think. And the last one is Spiderman, for a christmas swap that I participated in on this really great website called PencilJack.com

It's awesome for a large variety of reasons, but not the least of which is that it is a place for posting art and getting critiques. The community is about as great as one as I have ever seen on the Inter-Webs. Quite a lot of influential comic artists and writers got there start on those boards, so even if you're not an artist yourself it can still be a great way to get a sneak peek at what might be the future of comics!

The second set of images is made up of some D&D characters that I would draw up so that my players would have some idea of what the people they were interacting with looked like.I find that drawing a picture is far more valuable to them than having me try to describe an NPC to them. The character at the bottom of the page was actually a gift to my good friend Will Bronson. It is supposed to be an image of his character Quill. I actually did quite a few different versions of Quill, depending on how I was thinking of him at the time. The images didn't really nail down how Will thought of the guy, but I think he appreciated seeing how a character's image can be interpreted in many different ways, even by the same artist. I think there is some wisdom in there somewhere, as the people we all know and interact with every day can present so many conflicting sides of themselves that it can be pretty confusing. Fictional characters should also be able to exhibit that kind of complexity. Bookish scholar one moment, ass kicking necromancer the next. That's how I saw Quill.

The guy in the top left of the next group is another self portrait, shorter hair and less beard too! Then another D&D character on his right, and below that an undead rogue from the World of Warcraft. I pretty much just made up everything he's wearing because their design is redunkulous.

Um, some random characters, with a Tetsuo sketch thrown in for good measure.

More D&D stuff ( a sassy hound archon), a wizard who can see the benefit of carrying guns, a religibot, and an alien with a spiffy jacket.

Herro!

I'm hoping to turn this blog into a fun place for friends and family to keep up with what I'm working on, what I'm rambling about and what I'm drinking on a semi-regular basis. I think to start with, how about some sketches? Eh? Everyone loves those. I'll serve up a piping hot plate of those in my next post.
